Low-Dose Ketamine Therapy
Neuroplasticity, supervised
Low-dose ketamine therapy uses carefully controlled microdoses of ketamine, administered under strict medical supervision, to support neuroplasticity and emotional reset in screened individuals — often where conventional approaches to mood have plateaued. At SOMA, every ketamine protocol begins with medical screening and diagnostics, at our Mumbai and New Delhi clinics.
What is low-dose ketamine therapy?
Ketamine has been used in medicine for over five decades, primarily in anaesthesia. At a small fraction of anaesthetic doses, it has been studied for its rapid effects on mood and on neuroplasticity — the brain’s capacity to form new connections. Low-dose ketamine therapy applies these carefully controlled microdoses in a clinical setting, as a tool for emotional reset rather than sedation.
A scheduled medicine, treated accordingly
Ketamine is a Schedule X medicine in India. It is prescribed and administered at SOMA only by qualified physicians, under medical supervision, after mandatory screening — never on request, and never outside the clinic.
How does SOMA use ketamine therapy?
At SOMA, ketamine is one tool inside a broader plan for the brain and mind — because mood is biological too. Alongside any ketamine protocol, your physician examines the contributors testing can reveal: neuroinflammation, hormonal imbalance, sleep disruption and nutritional status. Addressing those in parallel is what distinguishes a supervised medical protocol from a standalone infusion.
Where it may fit
Ketamine protocols are most often considered for screened adults with longstanding low mood, anxiety or burnout — particularly where progress with conventional approaches has plateaued. It is supportive care within a physician-designed plan; individual responses vary, and no outcome is promised.
Because ketamine’s effects on mood can be rapid but are not permanent on their own, SOMA treats each session as an opening — a window in which the slower work of correcting sleep, hormones, inflammation and daily rhythm can take hold. That pairing is deliberate: the protocol aims to leave you less dependent on any single therapy, not more.
Who is a candidate for ketamine therapy?
Only a SOMA physician can determine that, through mandatory screening of your medical and psychiatric history, current medications and diagnostics. Certain cardiovascular, psychiatric and substance-use histories exclude ketamine therapy entirely — the screening exists to find exactly that. Clients with an existing psychiatrist or therapist are encouraged to involve them; SOMA’s protocols are designed to work alongside ongoing mental-health care, not replace it.
What happens during a ketamine session?
Before
Screening is completed and your physician confirms your protocol. Sessions take place in a calm, private clinical room with monitoring equipment in place.
During
Doses are small and physician-determined. You remain conscious throughout; many clients describe a quiet, reflective state. Vitals are monitored for the whole session.
After
You rest at the clinic until your physician clears you, and you should not drive that day. Your response is reviewed before any further session is scheduled, and your protocol is adjusted accordingly — SOMA does not sell fixed session packages for ketamine therapy.
Where is ketamine therapy available?
Low-dose ketamine therapy is available at SOMA in Mumbai — Kohinoor Square, Dadar West — and in New Delhi at Greater Kailash II, in both cases exclusively through physician consultation and screening.
Sessions are scheduled only after screening is complete, and appointment availability is deliberately limited — supervised protocols take clinical time, and SOMA does not run high-volume infusion schedules. If you are travelling from outside Mumbai or Delhi, mention it at consultation; protocols can be planned around visit windows where clinically appropriate.
Common questions
Ketamine is a Schedule X medicine in India, legal when prescribed and administered by qualified physicians in a clinical setting. At SOMA it is provided only under physician supervision with mandatory screening — never on request.
Research suggests ketamine acts on glutamate signalling, supporting neuroplasticity — the brain's ability to form new connections. Low-dose protocols aim to support this while you remain conscious and monitored. Individual responses vary; a SOMA physician reviews yours between sessions.
People with certain cardiovascular, psychiatric or substance-use histories, among other exclusions. SOMA's screening exists precisely to identify this — suitability is always a physician's decision made from your history and diagnostics.
Protocols vary by individual and are set by your physician after screening, then adjusted by response. SOMA does not sell fixed session packages for ketamine therapy.
