Low-Dose Naltrexone
LDN
Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) uses naltrexone at roughly one-tenth of its standard dose, where it behaves differently: briefly blocking opioid receptors prompts a rebound rise in the body's own endorphins, modulating immune activity and quieting chronic inflammation. At SOMA, LDN is physician-prescribed within test-first protocols, in Mumbai and New Delhi.
What is low-dose naltrexone?
Naltrexone was developed at full dose for opioid dependence. At low doses — typically 1.5 to 4.5 mg — it works by a different route: a brief nightly receptor blockade triggers compensatory endorphin release and calms microglial inflammation. That profile has made LDN one of the most studied repurposed medicines in autoimmune, pain and fatigue conditions.
A prescription medicine
LDN is prescribed at SOMA by a physician, compounded to the low dose, and monitored — it is not an over-the-counter supplement, and it is started only where testing and history support it.
How does SOMA use LDN?
As a gentle, daily immune- and pain-modulating layer inside broader protocols — commonly for autoimmune conditions, fibromyalgia, long-standing pain and post-viral fatigue. Because it is inexpensive and well tolerated, LDN often carries the day-to-day load while diagnostics-driven work addresses root causes. Dosing starts low and titrates by response.
Who is LDN suitable for?
A SOMA physician, from your history, medications and testing. The critical exclusion is opioid use — LDN blocks opioid receptors and cannot be combined with opioid painkillers. Certain other conditions and medications are checked at screening; where LDN doesn't fit, your physician will say so.
What does LDN treatment look like?
Starting
After screening, LDN is prescribed at a low starting dose, usually taken at night.
Titrating
Dose adjusts gradually over weeks by response and tolerance; vivid dreams or brief sleep changes early on are the most commonly reported effects and usually settle.
Reviewing
Response is assessed alongside your markers at follow-up, and LDN continues, adjusts or stops based on measured benefit.
Where is LDN available?
Through consultation at SOMA in Mumbai — Kohinoor Square, Dadar West — and in New Delhi at Greater Kailash II. LDN is prescription-only and follows diagnostic assessment.
Common questions
LDN is used within protocols for autoimmune conditions, fibromyalgia, chronic pain and post-viral fatigue, where its endorphin-raising, inflammation-calming profile can help lower the daily symptom load. It is supportive, physician-prescribed care — not a cure for any condition.
LDN is generally well tolerated at low doses, with mild and usually transient effects such as vivid dreams. The firm exclusion is concurrent opioid medication. At SOMA, screening, titration and follow-up keep its use appropriately supervised.
Most protocols assess response over eight to twelve weeks, with dose titration along the way. Some clients notice changes earlier; LDN's benefits typically build gradually rather than arriving overnight.
Often yes, with one absolute exception: opioid painkillers cannot be combined with LDN. Your SOMA physician reviews every medication at screening and coordinates with your existing prescribers where needed.
